A Family-Focused Transformation

When this Powder Horn family came to The Landcraft Group, they had a stunning backdrop — Hole 1 of the Eagle Course, sweeping views of the Big Horn Mountains, and a home they loved. What they were missing was a backyard that could match it.

Their goal was simple but meaningful: more space for their family to actually live outdoors. A place to gather, to play, to linger into the evening — without sacrificing the views that made the property so special in the first place.

A Design Built Around the Land

The Landcraft Group began with a thorough understanding of the site and the family's vision before a single stone was set. The result was a custom landscape design that worked with the natural grade and aesthetics of the home, treating the landscape as an extension of the architecture rather than an afterthought.

The centerpiece of the project is a sweeping custom retaining wall that reclaimed usable backyard space from the sloping terrain. Built to complement the home's exterior and create a striking visual presence from the golf course, the wall features tiered planting beds with rounded, organic curves that soften the hardscape and invite the landscape in. Boulders were carefully placed to add natural character, and gravel corridors provide a low-maintenance, visually clean transition between turf and structure.

With the grade resolved, the team extended and overlaid the existing concrete patio with porcelain tile — creating a refined surface that flows seamlessly from the home's interior to the outdoors. A custom stone firepit anchors the patio's edge, perfectly positioned to take full advantage of Wyoming's spring, summer, and autumn evenings while keeping the mountain views completely unobstructed.

To bring the space to life after sundown, custom lighting was integrated throughout — accenting the retaining walls, casting a warm glow across the planting beds, and creating an ambiance that makes the outdoor space as inviting at night as it is during the day.

Outdoor Living, Fully Realized

Strategic tree and shrub placement adds a layer of privacy without closing off the views the family cherishes most. A new irrigation system ensures the plantings and fresh sod — laid to create a lush, level play area for the family — will thrive through Wyoming's seasons.

The finished property is one that works on every level: beautiful from the golf course, functional for a family, and genuinely enjoyable from the moment you step outside.

This is what Elevated Outdoor Living looks like.
